The home, purchased in 2017, is located less than a block off of the rapidly developing H Street Corridor, and a 5-minute walk to Union Station. The client, a young family, was looking to create a place where they could raise their kids in the city, while creating a basement unit to generate supplemental income or host family and friends visiting from out of town.

The existing house was a 2-bathroom, 5 bedroom house that had not been modernized. No central air existed and the additional bathrooms were inserted without any upgrades to the water supply. The renovation work included refurbishing the exterior, adding new windows and creating an areaway for the basement unit. A modern, 10 foot extension was added to create a larger kitchen on the ground floor, adding a bedroom on the second level and a roof deck on the third floor master suite. On the inside all surfaces will be touched, replacing/ refurbishing the flooring. The second floor is for the kids, with 2 bedrooms, a jack and jill bathroom and a generous play area between bedrooms. The third level will be a master suite level. This floor will hold a bedroom, walk-in closet, bathroom and study that opens to a roof deck with views to the Capitol Building. Completed Summer 2019.
